Why Mother Goose?

Our Educational Philosophy

Mother Goose Playskool believes:

  • Childhood is important in all aspects of growth and should be capitalized on, not hurried through or minimized. It is not mere preparation for later school or life but a vital part of life itself to be lived richly each day.

  • Learning is more effective if it grows out of the interest of the learner in an open, supportive, non-threatening environment.

  • Learning is to be thought of in terms of activity and meaningful experience (real or imaginative) rather than of knowledge to be acquired and facts to be memorized and stored.

  • Children need concrete materials and meaningful first-hand experiences which are fundamental to later symbolic learning.

  • Exploration and experimentation are basic to creative thinking and problem-solving.

  • Play is vital to children’s learning, and therefore vital in school.

  • Children need teachers who are not only well qualified but also warmly human, and see themselves as ‘guides’ to learning.

  • Children need to be prepared for the demands of the 21st Century and develop a Love for God and service to others.

Our Mission

The Mother Goose Schools are dedicated to providing an enriching and challenging educational environment where each child is encouraged to grow to his or her fullest potential socially, physically, emotionally, academically and spiritually. Through the dynamic partnership of child, parent, and teacher, a consistent Montessori- Piagetian-Open Classroom framework for learning is developed, offering an "Education for Life".

THE SCHOOL SYSTEM

The school primarily adopted three internationally known educational philosophies. The following are:

The Montessori Philosophy

The Montessori Philosophy is one of the best educational doctrines ever designed to enhance a child's mind and body. In this light, MG believes that through the senses, the child is able to learn. This is what the Montessori is all about, "learning through the senses". It is therefore useless to tell a child something that he has never experienced. For instance, a child will never understand something that is 'cold' if he was never exposed to such. In this case, the school's approach is to have some ice cubes to allow the child to hold them. More materials inside the learning environment are provided in order to stimulate the child's natural interest to learn. Most often, he/she sees these educational materials as toys and therefore make learning fun.
